Extension or SIP trunk — which do you need?
An extension is for one person or device — your desk phone or the Luna app, with its own internal number, voicemail, and direct dialling to colleagues. This is what most people want.

You don't set anything up yourself — we build your extensions and send you the details.
1. Tell us what you need
Send your name, email and mobile and how many extensions you want. We build them for you.
2. We send your details
Scan a QR code for the iPhone/Android app, or use the login we send for desk phones and the Windows/Mac apps. You can also pick them up from the portal.
3. Plug in and call
Your phone or app registers and you're live. We're on hand if you need a hand.

Tell us who you are and how many extensions you need. We'll build them and send your connection details — usually within the hour during office hours.
Common questions
What's the difference between a PBX extension and a SIP trunk?
An extension is for one person or one device — your desk phone or the Luna PBX app, with its own internal number, voicemail and ability to dial colleagues directly. A SIP trunk is for connecting a whole phone system (your own PBX) or carrying multiple simultaneous calls. Most individual users want an extension on our hosted Luna PBX; you only need a trunk if you're running your own PBX and want to point it at us. If you're not sure, tell us how you work and we'll set up the right one.
Is the hosted PBX an extra cost?
No — the hosted PBX is part of Membership at £149/month. You're not charged per extension or per feature. Add the people and features you need; calls run at the wholesale rates we pay, passed straight through.
How do I get my connection details?
Once we've built your extension, you can pick up the details from the Selfcare portal, or we'll send them to you — a QR code to scan for the iPhone and Android apps, or a username and password for desk phones and the Windows/Mac apps. Tell us which suits you.
Can I use my own phones?
Yes. Bring a desk phone or softphone you already own, or order a Grandstream phone from us that arrives pre-configured. Either way we map it to your extension. See all the ways to connect on our setup guides.
What if I work from different places?
An extension isn't tied to a desk. Register it on the Luna PBX app on your phone or laptop and take your business line anywhere with internet. You can run a desk phone and the app on the same extension at once.
